Ministra anunciou campanha contra homofobia nos meios de comunicação.
Milhares de pessoas - 50 mil, segundo os organizadores - protestaram neste sábado (10) pelo centro de Roma contra a homofobia e para exigir igualdade, em uma marcha convocada pelo movimento LGBT (Lésbicas, Gays, Bissexuais e Transexuais).
Um grande cartaz, no qual se podia ler a mensagem "livres e iguais em dignidade e direitos", carregado entre outros pelos ex-deputados e dirigentes do movimento homossexual italiano Vladimir Luxuria e Franco Grillini, abriu a manifestação, que fez um percurso da Praça da República até a Praça Veneza, no centro da cidade.
Durante a manifestação, Dino, um jovem que em agosto foi agredido nas imediações do centro recreativo Gay Village, em Roma, disse que os homossexuais querem caminhar pelas ruas "seguros" e querem levar "uma vida normal", e pediu aos governantes que destinem um fundo para as vítimas da homofobia.
Outros homossexuais disseram que tinham viajado até Roma de outras cidades para dizer "não" à "onda de violência" contra os gays e para reivindicar a liberdade para poderem caminhar e se beijar nas ruas, "o que agora não podemos fazer porque temos medo", segundo um deles.
Durante o comício, foi transmitida uma mensagem da ministra de Igualdade de Oportunidades, Mara Carfagna, de que o Executivo está junto com os gays, lésbicas e transexuais na luta contra a intolerância e a discriminação.
"Vocês não estão sós nessa batalha. Minha vontade é de lutar contra a discriminação, em todas as suas formas e onde houver", dizia a mensagem, na qual acrescentou que está sendo discutida no Governo uma lei mais severa para os crimes cometidos por motivos discriminatórios.
A ministra também anunciou uma campanha nos meios de comunicação contra a homofobia e todas as formas de intolerância.
